CNY LOTD: Rainy Days

Rain rain go away, come again another day!

Why does it seem to rain every CNY? Thank goodness for my rainy boots with matching pink socks :)

Threw on this casual ensemble for a quick visit to my aunt's place... can you see my new pearls peeking out? A perfect touch to dress up a simple outfit - Thanks to Mr Yap's great fashion advise this morning! I'm discovering daily how pearls are such versatile jewellery for every occasion!

CNY LOTD: Cheong Sam Special!

Chinese New Year Day 2 was a traditional one. Cheong Sam, Grandparents, Family Portrait... you know the drill.

But... the LOTD had a modern twist to it. I got bored with dresses, skirts and pants and decided to throw on a gold denim hot pants. Keeping it casual and comfortable, yet a little bit traditional for the gramps with the chinese collar >.<

It's the second time I've worn this top. The first was last year's CNY. At this rate, it's going to take a while to hit ROI. Plus, it's such a pity to keep such a lovely piece hidden at the back of my wardrobe and only to let it see daylight once a year.

So I've made a CNY resolution! Why should I restrict myself to Cheong Sams on CNYs (or special events like weddings)! This year, I will be adventurous. I promise to wear this on daily basis - you know what I mean! Not everyday, but on regular days too!

Subject: Hello Kitty x Forever 21

Dear Forever 21 Singapore,

I simply LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE your recent Hello Kitty x Forever 21 Limited Edition Collection launched last November. It's such an awesome collab between Sanrio. Love the umbrellas, love the cushions, love the duvet covers, and the clothes are adorable!

My favourite is the pink leopard scarf print. The design is elegant yet cute - how is that even possible!! Just between you and me, if this print came in a chiffon high-low shirt, I would bag it in a heartbeat! Any chance of that? (*hopeful begging eyes*)

Also, I just noticed in your Forever 21 lookbook, there is a to-die-for T shirt version in this very print! Am I too late to get it in Singapore? I didn't see it in your store :( I await eagerly for your positive feedback!

Pearls...growing on me!

Mr Yap loves a lot of things in life, especially jewellery. One of his favourite - pearls.

He has been nagging at me to dress up with some elegant pearl jewellery, but I've always thought pearls were a little bit...erm...aunty-ish mature. So when Mr Yap suggested that we should go pearl necklace shopping last weekend, I politely went along. As I've recently undergone a major surgery which left a big smiley scar around my neck, Mr Yap thought a pearl necklace would be a great fashion accessory and also a good concealer!

We found a shop in Orchard to customise the pearl necklace that we like: we chose a sizeable lovely white pearl necklace with a hint of pink - there's always gotta be my favourite pink! At the same time, we also made a simple pair of earrings to make it a set. With the bracelet that Mr Yap got for me from New Zealand, I've got a happy family of pearls sitting on my dressing table!

Pearls do grow on you... I started out as a skeptic, thinking I'm too young for 'real' pearls, but now, I love Mr Yap's latest gift to me. Chinese New Year LOTD, here I come! Photobucket

Bye Bye Bag Bag

After only 2 days of using my newly bought Dr Mart satchel, I had to say my goodbyes.

The edges where the shoulder strap came into contact with the opening flap started to peel. Several factors may be the cause of it:
1) the smooth leather coating wasn't durable (I've carried my Cambridge Satchel countless of times and it's still in pristine condition without any leather peeling)
2) the shoulder strap had stitches that were too thick and rough, causing the peel (the Cambridge Satchels do not have stitches on the shoulder straps)

Though I really really loved the satchel, I couldn't accept this defect. The leather would peel even further and it would become quite ugly.

Mr Yap took it back and asked for a refund. The staff at Dr Mart were more than happy to offer a one to one exchange but the shoulder straps will still have stitching, and if the leather coating quality remains the same, the problem will still happen. So we preferred the refund.

At least I had the pleasure of using it for 2 days. Good bye my lovely black Dr Mart Satchel... I will miss you!

HBD to Me!

Mr Yap shared with me that on our birthdays, the ones we should truly thank are the ones who gave life to us. So true. Thanks mum and dad for bringing me up!

Birthdays are not about how many prezzies you get, or how big a party you throw. It's all about the people who shaped you to becoming you.

Thanks for all the heartfelt messages from friends and family all around the world.

Big thanks to my colleagues for throwing the best work lunch party I've ever had!

And love and kisses to Mr Yap who dotes on me unconditionally.

But it's never too old to celebrate your birthday. And it's never too many when it comes to prezzies!

I now own a sexy yet sweet (if that's possible) corset top from Minoshe to seduce Mr Yap in.

Also, after the lovely dinner with Mr Yap, we took a walk around stores. I wanted to peek into my favourite toy store at Wheelock, hoping to find the Tokidoki barbie doll, but 'closed' was all I found.

But, blessing in disguise, we turned around and entered Dr Martens, and I came out with a lovely gift from Mr Yap! New arrival: an 11" full leather satchel with hair on! The workmanship is exquisite. And it comes with adjustable straps so that it can be a shoulder or sling bag!

His New Mistress

Over the past week, Mr Yap has been searching for the legendary 36 megapixel Nikon D800, which became available in Singapore last week.

It's either Nikon Singapore has an interesting marketing strategy to launch it with very limited stock, or the stores just don't carry enough stocks to supply the hot demand.

Just 2 hours ago, a kind staff at Funan's Challenger messaged him with news of its availability. Within 2 hours, Mr Yap got dressed, rushed out of the house, bought it and came home with his new mistress.

Mr Yap has several mistresses. Within the photography industry, he has 3 mistresses named D3X, D5100, and now D800. Audiophile side, he has Sonus Faber, Yamaha, Rotel, Bowers & Wilkins.

I welcome my latest competition, who will vie for Mr Yap's attention this week.

More than meets the eye

Recently, around my office, I spotted a deceptacon. It immediately reminded me of something Optimus Prime said in the first transformers movie – my favourite!

I’ve watched it tons of times. It’s my ironing movie. Mrs Yap's ironing secret: Ironing isn’t so dull if you’ve got a familiar movie playing in the background. The sound plays in the background, the movie plays in your head. That way, you can iron and watch your clothes too.

So when I saw this deceptacon, the following script automatically played in my head:

Photobucket

"With the All Spark gone, we cannot return life to our planet.

And fate has yielded its reward, a new world to call home. We live among its people now, hiding in plain sight, but watching over them in secret, waiting, protecting.

I have witnessed their capacity for courage.

And though we are worlds apart, like us, there's more to them than meets the eye.

I am Optimus Prime and I send this message to any surviving Autobots taking refuge among the stars.

We are here.

We are waiting."

My New LV

I’ve been eyeing a piece from LV since the start of this year.

But I told myself 6 years ago when I purchased my pink Monogram Vernis wallet that I would use it for at least 10 years before its time was up.

So when my eyes fell upon this Monogram Multicolour Eugenie wallet with a gorgeous pink interior…all I could do was wait. Shopaholic me would always keep an eye on this wallet whenever I visited LV, ensuring that it was still available.

But today…I was told it was no longer in stock by a staff at LV.

My expression fell.
My heart dropped.
Stopped.

Regret sunk in. If only I…

We were about to leave the store when Mr Yap met another sales staff who remembered him from a previous purchase.

He told us the other staff was mistaken and there was one piece left!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Another lovely present from Mr Yap. LOVES!

Should I or should I not start using it now?

P.S. Did you notice my new specs too?
